PDFlib pCOS is available under commercial licensing.

PDFlib pCOS can be downloaded in a package which is fully functional, but has a few restrictions until a valid license key is applied.

One license covers a single computer running under the selected operating system platform, regardless of the number of CPUs. An individual license key is necessary for every individual system. Details of the commercial pCOS license can be found in the document pCOS licensing which is also contained in the distribution.

Customers in the Americas, Australia and Japan will be invoiced in US-$, all other regions in Euro. Customers in Germany must add 19% VAT (MwSt.).

Volume discounts are available for multiple licenses of the same product, provided all licenses are ordered with a single combined order:

If 5 or more licenses are ordered, 10% discount off the list price is granted for all licenses.

If 10 or more licenses are ordered, 15% discount off the list price is granted for all licenses.

One license covers a single computer running under the selected operating system (platform), regardless of the number of CPUs. Development licenses for machines which are not used for production purposes and run under the same operating system are free with each purchase. Redundant (backup) machines do not require a separate license, provided they are never used concurrently with the actual production machines. Groups of load-balancing servers require a license for every server in the group.

Supplying the name of the target operating system platform is a strict requirement since the license is bound to a specific platform. The license is valid for all supported language bindings (programming languages) on the selected platform.

We offer optional support contracts in combination with a new product license, or to renew an existing support contract. The support fee is 18% of the license fee per year. Customers with an active support contract will benefit from the following advantages:

technical support with short response times

all minor (maintenance) and major (functional) updates included

early availability of patchlevel (bugfix) versions

maintenance releases and technical support available until the end of a product’s lifetime

An update changes an existing license to a license for a newer version of the same product on the same platform. An update invalidates the old license. pCOS 1 licenses can be updated at a reduced license fee. A valid license key must be supplied with an update order. Maintenance updates (e.g., from version 2.0 to 2.1) are free.
